A distinctive programme of musical crosscurrents, pianist Harry Baker explores the rich dialogue between French classical music and jazz. Moving seamlessly from the vibrant harmonies of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel to the improvisatory worlds of John Coltrane and Bill Evans, the programme weaves together reimagined masterworks, seminal jazz tunes and the American Songbook. Combining his background in classical music with the sound worlds of pop, rock and funk, his solo arrangements for violin have now collected millions of views on the Internet. Tonight at Kino Splendid Palace, Riga, he joins forces with Harry Baker and a string quintet for Harry’s arrangements of Bernstein and Christmas music, as well as playing innovative arrangements of works by Elton John, Billie Eilish and others.
